SUBJECT: The Importance of Eye Contact
Last Thursday, Meyer Chevrolet received an online survey from a customer stating that one of the salesmen exhibited poor eye contact when showing them a new vehicle. The sales managers later discovered that this customer purchased a similar vehicle from Keowee Ford three hours later. As a prominent auto dealership in the upstate, this is not acceptable.
Maintaining eye contact with your customer is essential to closing a sale for the following reasons:
- They know you are actively listening to them.
- They trust you.
- You value their service.
- You are happy that they are car shopping here.
There are several quality salesmen in the upstate vying to sell vehicles. Customers are only going to buy from salesmen they feel comfortable with, and who can convince them to sign beside the X.
If you are unsure if your eye contact is up to par, please ask to role play a mock sale with one of your fellow salesmen, a manager, or myself.
Thank you for your consideration.
